USCENTCOM R&R Leave Program Celebrates
Half Million Participant Milestone
The U. S. Central Command Rest and Recuperation Leave Program celebrated supporting its 500,00th participant June 12th, 2007. The event marked a major milestone of the program’s movement of the half-millionth program participant and recognized the numerous entities that support and execute the R&R mission daily.
MG Sean Byrne, Commanding General, Human Resources Command, hosted the event at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. The program also hosted recognition celebration events at Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia and the Kuwait International Airport in Kuwait. The DFW and Atlanta events were widely attended. Participants from surrounding communities, U.S. Congressional and Texas State Legislators, Dallas Cowboy past and present stand-outs, the acclaimed Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders and Texas Boys Choir.
The event garnered major internal DoD, local, regional, national and international media coverage, that included all five major national news networks - ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN, WGN (a huge syndicated market), Univision (major Hispanic market) and MSNBC who did live spots from the event. Coverage was very positive and highlighted how employers and the nation support our Service Members, DOD Civilians and their Families. Freedom Team Salute, also recognized these entities and Service Members with presentations.
